Once that's done, plunge the Higley tool into the balsa. If your balsa is soft it will be very easy to slide back and forth, if the balsa is more dense you will need to keep plunging the tool back and forth. When done this will give you a slim opening large enough for CA hinges. In my case the slot is too narrow and need to be widened for my nylon hinges.
