Gator RC should receive the first container that includes T28s in September. I saw Mike from Gator fly one in Fond Du Lac in August. One flight and it flew really well. Flew with a ums 215 radial and never got over 1/2 throttle.

Thank for the reply. Looking forward to installing my UMS 260 in one as soon as it is shipped to my front door. Curious to know if Mike posted any flight videos of his T-28?

mike at gator said they're finishing up the manual and it should be out in a week or so.

the US shipment ports early next week so prob still 2 weeks or so until US preorders arrive.

as stated above mike flew his on a UMS 210. he said he felt it was overpowered and recommends a 120-130cc if running a 2 stroke.

looking forward to getting mine. hoping to have it maiden ready 2 weeks after it arrives.

what size prop are your planning on using with the UMS 260? i am debating a valach 250 but i'm worried about fitting a 30" prop since it's tricycle gear.

If ground clearance is not an issue, I plan to use a three-blade 30x18, same prop I use on the Moki 250. If that doesn't work, maybe a 28x16 four-blade prop.

30x18 is one of the same props recommended for the valach so that's what i'll be using as well.

did some research last night and saw guys flying the tomahawk t-28 which is just slightly smaller on moki 250s with 3 blades props. so it should be possible as long as top rc didn't make the gear height too short.

You guys amuse me…….

Pancake321 in one post you say

as stated above mike flew his on a UMS 210. he said he felt it was overpowered

And in your next post

I am debating a valach 250

If the distributor says it is overpowered with a 210, why would you consider a 250?

As for clearance for a 30 inch prop, the scale prop size is 26.88 inches, so I wouldn’t count on using much more than this.

For those of you planning a radial, you are in for a rework of the engine box. The firewall is positioned to exactly accommodate a DLE111 with NO stand-offs. Any radial that will fly this Trojan will be longer than a 111. Sounds simple right? Just cut the engine box back right? Until you consider that the nose gear is mounted right at the bottom front of the engine box! I am glad I only ever planned on using the 111.

someone's opinion on what is overpowered is just that, an opinion. it may be influenced by his flying style or him not wanting guys to think it needs a $3500 engine to fly well. i don't know and haven't seen videos so that is why i am contemplating a 250. obviously if it needs a large overhaul of the engine box to accommodate a radial i won't use one. did mike have to do major mods to fit his 210? i'm not sure anyone knows. so that is my thinking. i like my airplanes overpowered anyway.

also, the dragon rc and gator rc product description pages both specifically list 250cc radials as recommended engines. so that's another reason why i don't feel it is some wild idea.

really not much for me to debate until my airplane gets here next week but i do like to have a plan in mind and stuff to research. i enjoy that part of the hobby.

im sure yours will fly well with a 111. have you encountered any issues with your build so far?

I'll be counting the money and listening to you cry after you cut the front of the engine box off and then realising you can not fit the nose leg.

you have fun now.

according to the motor specs of the valach 250 you will not need to cut the motor box. it's only 10ish mm longer than a dle-111.

again, it is a manufacturer recommended motor.

Clearly you have missed where I said there is no room for stand offs with the 111.

The 111 WITHOUT stand offs is only 166mm long and to be honest my prop is further from the cowl than I would like.

Your Valach is 193mm from mount to prop, so 27mm longer.

that's my mistake. i missed that without standoffs the 111 is only 166mm long. 27mm longer than your 111 may look silly indeed. that is very good info from you and much appreciated.

i definitely don't want to cut the motor box. sounds like it's not even an option with the nose wheel there anyway.

i wonder if the motor box was cut for the UMS 210 on the prototype? it's hard to tell from the pictures i posted how far the prop sticks out from the cowl. i'm guessing it was not cut and they just lived with a decent sized gap.

that prob used on the prototype looks quite large. i'm guessing 30-32".

happy assembly 👍

i'll grow up once you improve your reading comprehension. i've posted nothing rude whatsoever unless it was in reply to an uncalled for snarky response from you.
